Built inside a working California FFL

THE BOUND BOOK THAT CAN'T BE UN-WRITTEN

Electronic Form 4473, append-only A&D bound book, and the transfer workflow your state actually requires — full California DROS or straight federal NICS, one switch. Designed at the gun counter, not in a boardroom.

Training sandbox included — practice everything, erase it with one click. Real entries made in your trial carry straight into your subscription.

The Platform

EVERYTHING A DEALER SIGNS THEIR NAME TO

One system for the records that ATF and CA DOJ actually inspect — working alongside whatever sells your guns today.

Native e4473

The real electronic Form 4473 — Revised Aug 2023, built to ATF Ruling 2016-2's conditions. The buyer completes Section B on their own phone via QR + PIN; staff run Sections A, C and E with every stop condition enforced. Verbatim printed reproduction on demand.

Ruling 2016-2

A&D Bound Book

Append-only, sequentially numbered, corrections as visible strikethroughs — never silent edits. Late entries are flagged, not hidden. Acquisitions flow in from receiving and trade-ins; dispositions write themselves at transfer. Daily-download CSV in the 2016-1 format.

Ruling 2016-1 · 27 CFR 478.125(e)

California DROS, natively

DES has no API — so the platform reads your DROS PDFs, links them to the right 4473, tracks the 10-day wait and the 30-day window, and refuses release while DES shows Pending. It even catches the two-clock trap: a NICS check expiring while the DROS still runs.

ATF Inspection Mode

One tap locks the device to a read-only inspection view: the 478.125(e) register, every transaction record with print links, hash-chain verification, and book-vs-inventory reconcile. Navigation disappears; only an admin password or manager PIN unlocks it.

Built for the IOI visit

Training mode, built in

One click drops the whole shop into a sandbox — a complete copy of your data where staff can practice 4473s, book entries and DROS workflows for real. Nothing is sent, charged or backed up, and exiting erases every practice entry. The real book can't be touched while it's on.

Practice without fear

Works alongside your existing POS

No rip-and-replace. Keep the register, card terminals and printers you already run — Raincross handles the records a POS was never built for. Receiving, trade-ins and transfers write the book directly, so compliance never depends on your point of sale.

Kiosk mode

THE BUYER FILLS IT OUT — NOT YOUR STAFF

Section B is the buyer's testimony, so the buyer types it. Two ways, both enforced question by question:

  • Their own phone — staff show a QR code and a PIN; the buyer answers on the device already in their pocket. Nothing to sanitize, nothing to hand back.
  • A shop kiosk — any spare tablet or PC opens in a dedicated e4473 kiosk mode, locked to the buyer session and nothing else. Walk up, enter the PIN, answer, sign, hand it back.
  • Every stop condition fires as the answer is given — a prohibiting answer halts the form on the spot instead of surfacing at review.
  • Staff sections stay staff-side: Sections A, C and E never appear on the buyer's screen.
One platform · two workflows

CALIFORNIA MODE. STANDARD MODE. ONE SWITCH.

The 4473 is federal — but what gates the handoff depends on where you stand. Flip it once in Settings and the whole platform follows: nav, guidance, and the release gates themselves.

How it works

LIVE IN AN AFTERNOON, NOT A MIGRATION PROJECT

1

Get your environment

Your own isolated instance at yourshop.raincrossffl.app — fresh database, your FFL details, your logins. Nothing shared with any other dealer, ever.

2

Practice in training mode

Run practice 4473s, book entries and DROS workflows with the built-in sandbox. Your whole crew can learn by doing — then erase it all with one click and a clean conscience.

3

Go live — data carries over

Exit training and start entering real transactions during your free trial. When you subscribe, everything you've entered comes with you — no re-keying, no migration, no lost work.

Why this exists
"We run a working FFL in Riverside, California. Every feature in this platform exists because we needed it at our own counter — the DROS two-clock warning, the inspection lock, the book that reconciles itself against the safe. We built it, we run our shop on it, and now we're opening it to dealers who are tired of software built by people who've never logged an acquisition."

Integrated card processing

Already have a card terminal? Bring it. Standalone mode is included free on every plan — run the charge on your own machine, any processor, and record it at the register with one tap. Questions dealers ask

STRAIGHT ANSWERS

Is this legal to use as my bound book and 4473 storage?
Electronic A&D recordkeeping and electronic 4473 storage are authorized by ATF Rulings 2016-1 and 2022-1, subject to conditions — including written notification to ATF and a daily copy of your records at your licensed premises. The platform is built to those conditions, automates the daily copy, and hands you pre-filled notification letters at onboarding. Until your notices mature, you keep printing completed 4473s — the platform tells you exactly where you stand.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
You export everything — the complete bound book as CSV in the ATF daily-download format, and every 4473 as a print-exact PDF. Your records are yours; hostage data is not a business model we respect.
Do I have to replace my POS?
No. Raincross runs alongside whatever sells your inventory today. It owns the compliance records — the book, the 4473s, the DROS pipeline — and leaves your register alone.
What's the difference between training mode and the free trial?
The trial is the real product with real data — everything you enter persists and carries into your subscription. Training mode is a sandbox you can flip on any time (during the trial or forever after) that copies your shop, lets staff practice everything, and erases all of it on exit. Use training to learn; use the trial to go live.
I'm not in California — is this for me?
The federal core — e4473, A&D book, inspection mode — works in any state. The DROS workflow is California-specific, and California dealers are our first focus. Out-of-state pilots are welcome on the list; tell us your state on the form.
What happens during an ATF inspection?
You tap one button. The device locks to a read-only inspection view with the 478.125(e) register, every transaction record, print links, and the tamper-evidence check — and nothing else. Only an admin password or manager PIN unlocks it.
